Plastic Surgery

Dr. Geoffrey Fenner, MD, Head, Division of Plastic Surgery, during a preliminary consult

Physicians in the Division of Plastic Surgery serve adult men and women as well as children and adolescents with a broad scope of procedures, ranging from body contouring and aesthetic facial procedures to laser treatment to rejuvenate skin surfaces.  To slow down the aging process non-surgical approaches are available. Physicians and their support staff embrace a philosophy of patient-centered care and being responsive to patient needs and preferences.

Plastic surgery encompasses both reconstructive as well as cosmetic procedures.  Fellowship-trained plastic surgeons work collaboratively with other specialists in oncology and general surgery to achieve a high rate of success in musculoskeletal tissue transfer.  These would include cancer-related or lumpectomy as well as limb-saving procedures to correct circulatory problems.  Microscopic breast reconstruction known as a "free-flap procedure" is regularly performed at Evanston Hospital with a high degree of success.  While the national multicenter salvage rate is 69%, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare's is 99%.
