Parkinson's Centers

There are over 1.5 million people in the United States with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s, and many more who have not yet been diagnosed.  The young population is an expanding population.  Although the average age of diagnosis is approximately 60 years of age, 10-20% of people with PD develop it before the age of 50.  About half of those are diagnosed before the age of 40.  The mission of the American Parkinson Disease Association is to “ease the burden and find the cure” by providing patient education and support services, raising awareness and raising funds for promising research.

The American Parkinson Disease Association has two Parkinson’s Information & Referral Centers located at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL.

Midwest Information & Referral Center

The Midwest Parkinson’s Information and Referral Center services the Parkinson’s community of Illinois and Northwest Indiana.  In conjunction with the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) Midwest Chapter, the Information & Referral Center offers services and support to patients, families, health care professionals and anyone who has an interest in learning more about Parkinson’s disease.
