Michael Goldberg, MD

Dr. Michael J. Goldberg is the Head of the Division of Gastroenterology specializing in gastroenterology and hepatology.  His main area of interest is pancreaticobiliary tract disease and colon cancer prevention and detection.  Since joining the GI Division in 1999, Dr. Goldberg has significantly expanded the division’s services by adding physicians, technology, clinical research and expanded educational components.   He helped to establish two new research centers at ENH, a colorectal cancer research and genetics center and a pancreatic cancer research clinic.  Before becoming the Division Head for ENH GI, Dr. Goldberg was the Director of Therapeutic Endoscopy at the University of Chicago Hospitals as well as the Chief of Gastroenterology at Weiss Memorial Hospital.  Dr. Goldberg practices at both Evanston and Glenbrook Hospitals. 

Douglas Adler, MD

Dr. Douglas Adler completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan.  He received his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine.  Following an internship and residency at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Dr. Adler completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  His interests are in gastrointestinal disorders especially inflammatory bowel disease and he welcomes all patients with gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disorders.

Dr. Alan Auerbach's area of interest is the endoscopic treament of GERD, nonsurgical treatment of hemorrhoids and therapeutic pancreaticobiliary endoscopy.  He is Chief of GI at Northwest Community Hospital.  He practices and performs procedures at both Highland Park Hospital and Northwest Community Hospital.  He is board certified in Gastorenterology and Internal Medicine. He has lectured both nurses, physician's and the general public in endoscopic reflux treatment, in which his experience in Illinois is unmatched. He has been using IRC for the treatment of hemorrhid for over 20 years. His office practice is in Buffalo Grove.

Dr. Kenneth Chi's interests are in gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary malignancies, and welcomes all patients with gastrointestinal and hepatic disorders.  Dr. Chi completed his undergraduate studies at Oberlin College in Ohio. He received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. Following an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Dr. Chi completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Chicago. He has also completed a year of advanced endoscopy training at the University of Chicago specializing in endoscopic ultrasound and fine-needle aspiration of GI and pancreatic lesions as well as therapeuitic ERCP for pancreaticobiliary disease.

Eric Elton, MD

Dr. Eric Elton is Director of Therapeutic Endoscopy.  His primary areas of interest are pancreatobiliary endoscopy, enteral stent placement, and endoscopic mucosal resection, as well as the detection and prevention of colon cancer.  Following medical school and residency at the University of Pennsylvania, his fellowship training included a general gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Chicago and an advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at the Maine Medical Center.  Prior to coming to ENH, he was Co-Director of Pancreatobiliary Endoscopy at the University of Wisconsin.  He is board certified in gastroenterology and is on the faculty of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  He practices at Evanston Hospital.

 

Fred Fishman, MD

Dr. Fred Fishman's primary interests are GERD, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel diseases and peptic ulcer disease. He is active in both upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy for diagnosis and screening. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He also teaches at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. He received his training at the University of Chicago. Dr. Fishman is a believer in comprehensive care of the patient. Her internal medicine training was at Yale University. She is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. She is a Senior Attending physician at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare and is on the faculty of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Manoj Mehta, MD

Dr. Manoj Mehta is active in the training and education of Evanston Hospital and Northwestern University Medical Center resident physicians. A lifelong Chicagoan, he is a faculty member of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Mehta's interests include therapeutic endoscopy, pancreatic and biliary procedures, bowel stenting, and management of complicated reflux disease. He is board certified in gastroenterology and serves as a consultant to the American Board of Internal Medicine, writing and reviewing board examination questions. He has lectured on a variety of subspecialty gastroenterology topics for various audiences. Dr. Mehta serves as a team gastroenterologist for Northwestern University athletes. He is a firm believer in patient education and patient participation in health care decisions. He has an office practice in Kenilworth and performs endoscopic procedures at Evanston and Glenbrook Hospitals.

Mick Meiselman, MD

Dr. Mick Meiselman has interests in general gastroenterology and special expertise in medical and endoscopic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), pancreatobiliary tract disease, and colonoscopy. Dr. Meiselman received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 1979. He completed his medical residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center/UCLA, and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of California/San Francisco. He is board certified in gastroenterology. Dr. Meiselman is a Senior Attending physician at Evanston/Glenbrook Hospital and is on the faculty at Northwestern University Medical School. Dr. Meiselman is the Director of Quality Improvement - GI Division, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. He was the 1993-1994 Evanston Hospital Attending Physician of the Year. Dr. Meiselman has been selected as one of Chicago Magazine's "Top Doctors" for the last two years. He was recently named Medical Director of the Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Esophageal Disease Center. He sees patients at his Kenilworth office and performs procedures at both Evanston and Glenbrook Hospitals.

Dr. Neal Moller is a gastroenterologist specializing in general gastroenterology, colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease and upper gastrointestinal bleeding. He has been in practice in Highland Park for over 17 years. He is on the staff of Highland Park Hospital, Evanston Hospital, Glenbrook Hospital and Lake Forest Hospital. He is the former Chairman of Medicine at Highland Park and the Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Evanston. He is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. He has authorized multiple chapters on upper gastrointestinal disease and treatment. Dr. Joel Retsky, F.A.C.P., A.G.A.F., specializes in the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease). He currently serves as President of the Board of Trustees for the Illinois Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). He has previously held other CCFA positions including Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee and Chairman of the Eduation Committee. He also serves as Chief of Gastroenterology at Highland Park Hospital and Director of the Highland Park Hospital Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit. Dr. Retsky is actively involved in teaching medical residents and students. Prior to practicing at his Highland Park office, Dr. Retsky was on the faculty at the University of Chicago Hospital. Dr. James L. Rosenberg is a gastroenterologist with interests in general gastroenterology and special interests in inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer, and colon polyps. Dr. Susannah Spiess, F.A.C.P., F.A.C.G., A.G.A.F., is a member of the Division of GI specializing in gastroenterology and hepatology.  She is medical director of the GI lab at Glenbrook Hospital and has been awarded special recognition from the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association for her achievements within the specialty of gastroenterology.  Her special areas of interest include women's issues as related to gastroenterology, colon cancer screening, and the medical education of patients as well as doctors in training.  Dr. Spiess has office hours and performs endoscopies at Glenbrook Hospital.

 

Tat-Kin Tsang, MD

Dr. Tat-Kin Tsang is a graduate of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is Professor of Medicine on faculty at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He was the teaching chief of the Section of Gastroenterology for 15 years and associate fellowship director for 10 years. He was voted as attending physician of the year in 1985. His interests include pancreatobiliary diseases, H. pylori, peptic ulcer disease, interventional endoscopy and colon cancer detection. He has described seven endoscopic techniques, and a new method to identify H. pylori from stomach biopsies. He is the author of over 60 articles and a regular national conference presenter. He is a reviewer for six outstanding GI journals. He has appeared frequently on television with new updated information in the field of Gastroenterology. In addition, he is a consultant and a frequent conference speaker for many pharmaceutical companies. Despite his busy schedule, he remains a board certified practicing gastroenterologist first and foremost. Dr. Tsang performs procedures at both Evanston and Glenbrook Hospitals. He supervises a basic research laboratory at Glenbrook Hospital with two post-doctoral fellows.
