Many of us will experience disorders involving the organs of the digestive system during our lifetimes. If you experience any of the following symptoms, you may need to be seen by your primary care physician or a gastroenterologist: heartburn, difficulty swallowing, abdominal pain, excessive diarrhea, constipation, rectal bleeding, or unexplained weight loss. Some of the conditions that would cause people to consult a gastroenterologist are listed to the left.
