Liver Cancer

The American Cancer Society estimates that 17,550 new cases of primary liver cancer and bile duct cancer will be diagnosed in the United States during 2005. It is about twice as common in men as in women, and overall is becoming more common.  There are several identified risk factors, the primary risk factors are chronic hepatitis B or C virus infection and cirrhosis of the liver.

Liver cancer may be a symptomless disease or may manifest itself in the form of fatigue, lack of appetite or nausea and vomiting.  If you experience persistent possible symptoms, talk to your physician who may suggest some diagnostic testing.
