As a member of the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, Evanston Hospital offers fully accredited training in anatomic and clinical pathology for twelve residents through the Pathology program B of Northwestern University. The residency emphasizes thorough training in anatomical and clinical pathology, while providing opportunity and encouragement for supervised research work within and outside the department. Trainees actively participate in all departmental functions with personal guidance and tutelage from members of the attending staff. The program includes departmental seminars and teaching conferences as well as seminars conducted by other departments. Advanced trainees may rotate to other services and educational activities of the medical school and other institutions. Residents also participate in some of the numerous professional activities in Chicago, such as meetings of local and national medical societies and symposia in the medical schools. All residents rotate to Children’s Memorial Hospital and to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Chicago.
